An Epidemic…And What You Can Do About It TODAY

in Thought Provoking

It seems like there is an epidemic of stress going around.

Too many of my friends and family are hurting right now, all in different ways, but the common denominator seems to always be stress.

I’m guilty of it myself.  Letting too many things pile up on my plate until I lose the joy in simple everyday pleasures.

What ONE THING could you take off your plate today that would leave you feeling less stressed tomorrow?

Finish those piles of laundry?

Clear out those dishes piled in the sink?

Tackle that paperwork/project you’ve been putting off?

Fill out your calendar with ALL your upcoming events and to-dos so things don’t sneak up on you?

Take a time out to breathe and focus on something that brings you joy instead of stress?

What is your ONE THING today?

(If you feel like sharing, leave a comment so we can encourage one another!)

Something to think about…

Some days, take out really helps to alleviate my stress. 🙂

Good advice. I know I try to squeeze too much onto my to do list then get discouraged when I can’t get everything done. My spiritual director asked me last time how I would approach and hold this busy time ( June is really crazy for me this year) contemplatively. That has really stayed with me. breathe – I keep telling myself. smile. pause, enjoy…

Oh, I am feeling this epidemic! With three kiddos, this Spring we have 13 concerts in just three weeks. And then the field trips….award ceremonies… work…husband going out of town… None of the schedule is in my control (except the dr. appt. I shouldn’t have scheduled for tomorrow and dentist appts for next week); however, just focusing on one day at a time is helping. The minute I look ahead, I get stressed. Good advice in this post! 🙂

Last year was such a trying time for a lot of my friends last year. So much so that New Year’s eve while my husband and I prayed for specific things in 2013, we took a minute to pray for our friends and all that they’d experienced in 2012 and tears began to flow just out of a heartfelt desire for strength and peace to be felt in their lives. So in an attempt to answer your thought provoking question…prayer…prayer helps to alleviate stress in my life and the lives of those who I love.

I think I need to be sure I am organized and on top of all the “to dos”, knowing that they are written down, but don’t HAVE to be done NOW. Then, I would find something to give me joy, peace, rest. Stress far too easily envelops us and knocks us down. Thank you for this reminder. Caring through Christ, ~ linda

Simply, it would be worry. Not the sick kind of worry but the kind where perfection is fawned over and grace and focus is needed as a reminder. It isn’t about what I can do… it is about what He chooses to do through me!

I am also feeling that stress… I am trying to organize my schedule and to finish pending projects
