Sorry to throw that ad right up front, but if I put it at the end of the post, it totally messes with the “Something to Think About” tag…  😉

I guess I don’t really ever talk TO you guys, do I?

I mostly talk AT you.   Sorry about that.

I still find myself writing this blog as if my mom {Hi, Mom!} is the only one reading it besides me.  Oh boy. I’ve hosted this link up for how long?  Been reading YOUR links to Thought Provoking Thursday, and yet…

those silly voices still say “no one reads this but you.”

That’s not a call for attention, and it wasn’t a ‘poor me, I have no readers’ kind of thing either.

More it’s just the realization that I am actually writing/talking TO you each week.

Huh.   Sorry. Bear with me a minute…

I think I just Thought-Provoked myself right into one of those lightbulb moments.  😉

And yes.  This is how I sound in real life, late at night, when I’m tired.  Say hi to the real me.  I’m goofy!  🙂

So, if I’m actually writing to TO you, maybe we should get to know each other a little better?   What do you say?

Link your post, and then if you’ve got another minute, leave a quick comment and answer one of these questions about yourself.  I’ll answer each of you back.

If you’ve got two minutes, leave a comment about yourself, and then comment on someone else’s reply too!

How fun!

And….Voila!  A little more community here.  🙂

Some ideas:

  • Something quirky about yourself
  • Most useful book you’ve read
  • Most frivolous guilty pleasure
  • What’s the best advice you would give a new or old fellow blogger?
  • Where you live (generally, not specifically is fine)
  • Your phone number in 1st Grade (just kidding.   But if you answer this one I’ve got a funny story to tell you about mine! Mom, you need to ask about this one.  You’ll laugh!!)
  • Who have you met online through blogging/social media that you’d like to meet IRL?
  • What’s your favorite way to exercise? What makes you love it?
  • What do you wish there was more of here at Thought Provoking Thursday?  (gotta throw in at least on practical question you know!)
  • Did you ever sell those Cutco knives door to door?  (LOL.  Again.  Just kidding, but I did, for all of two weeks.  Ask me how it led me to be a teacher!  )
  • What’s your blog elevator pitch?   (Hey!  Promote yourself!   You deserve it! )
  • Answer any random question that pops into your head.   I’ll do my best to answer back. 🙂

Ready to get to know each other a little better?

What do you say?

Something to think about…

I love your blog! Today’s was awesome!! Something quirky about me- I am super duper self conscious about posting comments- but for you I will be brave 🙂 keep up the great work!!!

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 8:52 PM

You are super duper awesome about posting comments that make me SMILE. 🙂 And you’re always the first to ‘Like’ something….. Love you friend! Thanks for being brave!

Love your questions!!!! I want to answer several… except my eggs and bacon are getting cold… so I’ll have to make it fast.

Frivolous guilty pleasure — oh my, this has to be Vampire Diaries. I don’t know why, but I love it. Love love love it.

I love running. Used to hate it, but once I got good shoes and I stopped having pain, I fell in love. It’s my quiet time with God — my chance to take all my frustrations and worries and prayers and pound them into the ground as I spend that time with the Lord.

Most useful book I’ve read — so many… for faith, definitely Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. For blogging, Intentional Blogger from ChristianMommyBlogger.com. I’m only part-way through it, but it’s amazing!!!

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 8:56 PM

Oh, April! Thanks for such an awesome comment! I love this getting to know you. I’m not a Vampire Diearies girl, but I see the ads all the time when I watch MY guilty pleasure: Hart of Dixie. LOL. 🙂

I’m not in love with running, but maybe someday. For now, walking is my quiet time with God too though… so feeling very kindred there.

Mere Christianity is really messing with me, but in a good way. I’ll have to check out Intentional Blogger too.

Thanks for being here!

Quirky: I have this thing about not wearing hoop earrings… I think they make me look like a pirate.
Useful Book: For Women Only
Guilty Pleasure: Hershey’s Chocolate… need I say more?
Live: South Florida
Blog pitch: My blog is about what I am learning as I keep the faith day by day….

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 8:58 PM

Hmmm…. Now I really want to see you in some hoop earrings! I bet they look great, not pirate-y at all. 😉

I’ll have to check out For Women Only, but I’m with you on the chocolate! Baker’s German Chocolate (in the green box in the baking aisle is my guilty pleasure of choice. )

Thanks for being here every week! Love to see you pop up in the comments each week, even if I don’t always find time to reply! 🙂

Michelle, thanks for the link up for this blog newbie!
Useful book: Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst…not that I’ve implemented it but I keep re-reading it and one day I will get started 🙂
I live in TX.
My exercise / guilty pleasure is combined on the eliptical watching the 24 TV series for the 2nd time.
Can’t wait to see your answers!

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 9:01 PM

Kim, welcome! So glad to have you here! Welcome to the bloggy world too!

I’ve got Made to Crave, but I have to confess it hasn’t made it to the top of my reading pile just yet. :/

I’m here in TX too! Just outside northeast of Fort Worth.

So fun! Thanks for hosting the linkup, and throwing out some great questions!
I have too many quirks to delve into them all, but to really enjoy spaghetti, it MUST have peas mixed in. 🙂
Currently living near Raleigh, NC, but will (hopefully, Lord willing) be moving soon when hubby finds a job
Most useful book is probably Interrupted by Jen Hatmaker, though it’s so hard to pick just one!
As far as my blog goes, I write about being real in the midst of life’s struggles, and using my ordinary to glorify God and inspiring others to use theirs as well!

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 9:07 PM

Hi Melissa!

Okay, spaghetti and peas? You win the Quirkiest answer award! I love that answer. Wouldn’t want to try it, but I love the answer! 🙂

I’ve never been to NC, but it’s on my ‘someday’ travel list. I’ll have to add Interrupted to my reading pile. Love Jen Hatmaker too!

I love that so many of us are all blogging to inspire and glorify God with our ordinary lives! Great topic!

My current food love is Gyros – I tend to go in spurts!

I live near Avon, MN in the country with my husband, 3 young adults, dog, 2 cats, and a bird.

I recently read The Injection by Todd Wilson – The Homeschool Dad. Couldn’t put it down – sat in the bathroom on the edge of the tub in the middle of the night reading it on my iPhone. It’s a novel – story about redemption like you’ve never heard before.

My website is written to encourage other women to follow hard after HIM.

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 9:10 PM

Oh Phyllis! Gyros! I love Greek! It’s one of the biggest things I miss from Oklahoma… there was this little hole-in-the-wall Greek House on campus run by a sweet little couple from Greece. Best Gyros anywhere!

I’ll be envious of you up in MN this summer while we’re scroching here with 110 degree days…

I’ll have to check out that novel too…. My reading list is getting long from this community! Love that!

Great topic for a blog too!

I was born and raised in Arizona and I’m here for the summer. But my family and I live in rural Ireland now. 🙂

Michelle May 15, 2013 at 9:12 PM

Hi Jennifer!

Oh, how did you end up in Ireland? That’s got to be a fabulous adventure! My goal is to make it there to visit for (or before) my 50th birthday. That way I’ve got several years to save up and find some friends who want to join me! 🙂

Jennifer D. (This Gal's Journey) May 17, 2013 at 11:38 PM

We work for an American-based travel company. 🙂 But our appetites were whet when my husband spent a summer in Wales before we got married. 🙂 It’s truly an amazing place to live!
