Influential…What If We Are Meant To Be?

in Thought Provoking

Wandering through the grocery store, I collect the mundane items on my shopping list, and step into the checkout line.

I place my assortment on the conveyor belt, and patiently wait for the cashier to finish with the people in front of me.  My eyes drift lazily over ridiculous headlines on magazines, and one headline immediately catches my attention:

The 100 Most Influential People Who Never Lived

Isn’t that a fascinating thought?  The cover refers to fictional characters that have influenced our culture… James Bond, Homer Simpson, etc. However, my mind took that headline and ran with it in a completely different, thought-provoking direction:

What if this ‘100 Most Influential People’ list was one of God’s lists…. of people who had been given the potential to influence the world… but never embraced the calling, never stepped out in faith, never had the courage to fully live?

What if you and I are meant to be on a
‘Most Influential’ list?

Edifying! Insightful! Profound! Intriguing!

How can we get over our fears, step out boldly in faith, and simply follow where He is leading us?  I have more questions that answers for you today, and I’d love to chat with you about the idea in the comments, whether you’re full of questions too, or have insightful answers.  🙂

  • What am I resisting that God is calling me to do?
  • How am I falling short of living the life God planned for me?
  • What influence have I been given?  How is God leading me to use it?
  • How can I move past my comfort zone and stretch myself to grow into my potential?

I love this! What if God wants to use us to in influential ways, but we don’t step out in faith? He may use us to reach someone and we will never know about it, but it doesn’t matter if we know. God knows, and we will have followed His lead in obedience. How much will we miss out on if we don’t step out in faith?!?

Love this post. I think it’s so true that fear does keep us from stepping out too often. It’s something that is a true battle for many, and am so grateful for the grace to push through it.
