Still Need Christmas Gifts? ~ Shop Small, Shop Locally!

Still need to pick up some Christmas gifts?

This Christmas,  it’s been my goal to Shop Small and support local small business owners as much as possible.  Local businesses are unique, and so much fun to explore.  Plus, everyone is a winner when money is spent locally, and especially when little unique shops like the ones below are chosen over big, impersonal mega-mart shopping.  As a family with a small business of our own, we like to support other small business owners whenever we can.  Next year, I’m hoping to be able to do an even larger part of my shopping this way.

Texas Harvest Pie Company~

My very favorite local small business is this local bakery & cafe with the most delicious fresh food!

Give someone the gift of your time and company….take them out for a delicious lunch at Texas Harvest Pie Company .  They are located on the west side of Hwy 377 just south of 1709,  open Tuesday through Saturday.   This is my very favorite place to grab lunch.  I go often enough that the owner remembers my name… 😉  I’ll even go sit by myself and enjoy a fresh sandwich or yummy salad if I can’t find someone to take with me.  And of course, if you’re wanting to splurge,  Texas Harvest Pie company has the best pies, cookies, and more.  You can even order a whole pie to take home for your Christmas dinner. Check out their website to see their breakfast, lunch & catering menus… and see all the pies they offer!  Crazy good. And so pretty!

The Art Garage~

This cute little place is now just behind the Pie Company:

ArtGarageIt’s call the ART GARAGE.   They are open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10-5.

They have unique and adorable gifts like this one:

My FAVORITES are these custom lamps you can have made from family china.  Have some old china from grandmother sitting around collecting dust?  The Art Garage will make them into a custom lamp for you.  I would love to have some of our wedding china cups and saucers  made into a cute lamp like this!   They’d actually get some use…imagine that! 😀

The picture doesn’t do them justice.  You need to go check them out in person!

Heartfelt Frames~

Another really neat local shop! They do custom framing, and also have a lovely assortment of unique collectibles and gift items.   All work is done in their shop, and the owner, Christy,  is one of the most fabulous women I know.  Heartfelt Frames is located at 241 South Main Street, Keller, Texas •  Ph: (817) 431-0016     I plan on doing more shop small posts in the new year.  Stay tuned to hear more about this great little shop!

Asher’s Gourmet Shoppe~

Finally, I found an awesome gourmet shop with my mom and mother in law a few weeks ago.  Asher’s Gourmet is a bit of a drive for me, but it’s a local, small business in the metroplex.  They are located at 3114 S Cooper St, Arlington, TX.  (817) 468-9411.  We found it was SO worth the drive!   They had a little bit of everything, from cooking to baking to gift items.  They have tons of stuff for tea and coffee lovers, super fun and funky cookie jars, and an entire WALL of cookie cutters.  I found all kinds of gifts for several people on my list.  Even gifts for people who don’t like to cook.  It’s huge and so much fun to explore!   I’m looking forward to another trip there soon.  🙂
