Our own little 'St.Nick' ~2006

Dear Santa,

Right now it is that horrible hour between school and dinner.  My boys are tired. Hungry. Grumpy. Playing together having a ball one minute, and fighting, yelling, growling at each other the next.  What I’d really like for Christmas is a little peace on earth.  Or, if that’s too tall an order, maybe just a little peace for the next couple of hours…please?

Maybe this isn’t the best time of day to write a letter to Santa, huh?   But here’s the thing…  Every letter to Santa can be turned into a one dollar donation to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  Wouldn’t it be lovely to turn all our own Christmas wishes into real wishes come true for sick children?  Macy’s is donating $1 to Make-a-Wish for each letter to Santa they collect!  Check out their cool website.  They have a really neat interactive way for you to write, decorate, and print your letter (if you’d like), plus activity guides, Santa stationary, celebrity letters to Santa, and of course the tally counter for the number of letters received so far!  My favorite part, by far,  was reading the famous “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” letter from 1897.

‘The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see.’

If you haven’t ever read that letter, or haven’t read it lately, I highly recommend it.

Here’s the deal (from the Macy’s website):

At every Macy’s across the country there is a mailbox to collect letters for Santa Claus.  Bring your stamped letter to Macy’s, addressed to Santa at the North Pole, and drop it into Santa’s special mailbox.  We will count them up, and for each letter received, we’ll donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, up to $1,000,000.  We’ll deliver them to the Post Office, and together, we’ll collect a Million Reasons to Believe.

What will your letter to Santa say?

Just so ya know….

I have no affiliation with Macy’s, and did not receive anything from Macy’s to promote this.  I just think it’s an awesome idea that needed to be shared.
