My Deepest Fear…

by Michelle

in Choosing Simplicity

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are poweful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.  Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.  There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine, as children do.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.  And as we let our own light shine, we unconscioulsly give other people permission to do the same.  As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”                                                 ~Marianne Williamson

Tomorrow when I wake up, I’m starting a 4 week game with a group of local ladies.  You get points for healthy eating, exercise, sleep, supporting each other, building a healthy habit and letting go of a bad habit.  And, of course, there are penalties too.  And, after two weeks of absolute excitement and I-can’t-wait-for-this-to-start, I find myself somewhat terrified.  I’m not sure of what.  But I’m sitting here scared out of my wits.  Now that deserves some serious reflection.  But until I figure it out, I’m going to keep reading this quote daily, because I’m pretty sure that’s part of the answer.

P.S.  Feel free to ask me if I drank all my water, exercised, tackled that bad habit, etc.  I’d be happy to tell you how it’s going!

That’s a great quote. Reminds me of this Thomas Edison quote: If we all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves. Good luck with your game!

Betsy, Thanks! I absolutely love that Thomas Edison quote. That fits me to a ‘T’. I’ve done a few things in the past year that absoulutely boggled my mind. I just might put your quote up for a visible reminder. Thanks for commenting!

Starting anything new can be scary, even something you are looking forward to. Just remember you are not alone, we all love and support you. And remember to “Keep Moving Forward” (Meet the Robinsons).
