Welcome to the new home of Thought Provoking Thursday!
See this face? That smile?
What can I do to bring this kind of joy to someone I love?
It doesn’t have to be a trip to Disneyworld…
It could be a milkshake after a job well done in the school play,
or sleeping on the couch on a school night…
It could be just snuggling in bed for a few extra minutes in the morning,
or taking time to play a favorite board game and letting the laundry wait…
It could be a family game of basketball after dinner,
or silly, goofy, tickly hugs…
It might be as simple as sitting down and really listening.
What can I do to bring this kind of joy to someone I love?
Something to think about…

I’ve been thinking about these sorts of things, too, especially now that summer is here. Just yesterday, my son asked me to play a board game, but I didn’t – I did the laundry. Ouch! That will not happen again today. Love how your words went straight to the heart of that matter for me. Great post.
Oh, wow. That is what I love about Thought Provoking Thursday! I never know when these words touch someone dealing with the same thing. I’m right there with you, Courtney…. I let chores get in the way too often. Here’s to a day full of joy and fun for us both.
Great thought, Michelle! The memories of things we as parents do to bring joy to our children are what they truly cherish into adulthood.
Love this encouragement Michelle! I need to be more intentional about this. A few weeks ago I pulled my older girls (twin 12 yr olds & 13 year old) out of school and we went to a movie, went shopping and got our nails done. It was SO much fun and they loved it! It made for a great memory and I hope to do things like this more often to teach them to make time for fun and memory making.
Thanks for sharing!
great ideas…our girl especially likes being tickled
I love this question! Searching for answers now…
I love this! It really is in the simple things.
That really is something to think about!
Great thoughts! One thing I’ve been thinking lately as a way to give our children simple joy is just to say “yes” more often. Sometimes when our children ask for things outside the norm, or that are inconvenient, we just answer “no” without even thinking. Last night, we had pancakes for dinner at my son’s request (now, obviously this wouldn’t be a healthy dinner every night, but it was a nice splurge, and really made his night that I listened to his suggestion and said “yes” to his request). Blessings to you and your family. I added a post of my own to the link up, and visited a few sites as well
